As of September 2012, new regulations for au pairs apply in Luxembourg. It is now required that host families have at least one child younger than 13. They also need to apply for a permission to host an au pair at the Ministerium für Jugend (Ministry of Youth). Apart from this, the au pair receives a pocket money which equals 25% of the minimum wage in Luxembourg (information in French). The au pair is obliged to submit a health certificate to the Ministerium für Jugend (Ministry of Youth). Moreover, the boy or girl will need to provide evidence for having a knowledge of the language spoken by the host family.
