(12 september 2012) Our team made it: last weekend, the Aupair World - Silly Walkers were at the start of the Oxfam Trailwalker in Osterode, in the German Harz mountains. They were successful, hiking 100 kilometres in 29 hours and 17 minutes.
Hiking 100 kilometres in 30 hours for the good cause – this is the objective our team had been training for throughout many months. Last weekend, the training finally paid off. As one of the 140 teams of four coming from all over Germany, our Silly Walkers took the start early in the morning on Saturday. The team did not sleep but kept hiking through the entire night until Sunday. „In spite of our intensive training, we would never have made it without our great team spirit and iron will,“ our translator and Silly Walker team member Chantal Quassolo affirmed.
To be allowed to participate in the walk, every team had to donate to Oxfam: the Aupair World - Silly Walkers raised a fund of 3,242 euros for the charity organisation. We would like to thank all who helped us with their donations and who supported us. A remarkable total of 372,875 euros was raised at the OxfamTrailwalker Germany by all participating teams.
